Radiator and baseboard homes

Ductless Mini-Splits in Nahant

Quiet indoor heads on the wall, floor or ceiling, tied to one outdoor unit, for heat and cooling in rooms that radiators and window units never quite handled.

Heat and Cooling Without Tearing Into Walls

Most older houses were never built for ductwork. Radiators, baseboard and a few window units did the job, more or less. Ductless mini-splits fix that without opening ceilings. A small line set runs from the outdoor unit through the wall to an indoor head. Each head heats and cools its own space, with its own setting.

That makes them a strong fit for capes with cold upstairs bedrooms, additions that never got a proper zone, finished attics, sunrooms and two-families where each unit wants its own control. They also make sense as the backbone of a whole-home system when the house has no ducts at all.

The design is the part that matters. Too many heads and you pay for capacity you will not use. Too few and the far rooms stay cold. We count heat loss room by room, then place heads where air can actually reach. Wall heads are the usual choice. Floor consoles suit rooms with low windows. Ceiling cassettes work where wall space is tight. Every model is checked against the Mass Save qualified list, so the rebate and the 0% HEAT Loan stay available.

What a Mini-Split Job Includes

The work behind a clean ductless install.

  • Room-by-room layout

Head count and placement worked out from each room's heat loss and how air moves through the house.

  • Wall, floor or ceiling heads

The right style for each room, chosen for comfort and for how the space is used.

  • Multi-zone or single-zone

One outdoor unit serving several heads, or separate units where that makes more sense.

  • Tidy line-set routing

Lines run through closets or covered on the exterior with neat channels that match the trim.

  • Condensate drainage

Drain lines pitched and routed so summer moisture leaves the house without trouble.

  • Per-room controls

Each head set up with its own remote or wall control, and a walkthrough of the modes.

Ductless, Start to Finish

  1. Walk the rooms

Every room checked for wall build, window area and a sensible outdoor unit spot.

  2. Lay out the heads

A written plan with head locations, equipment, price, rebate estimate and any loan amount.

  3. Install and set up

Heads mounted, lines run and sealed, the system tested and every control explained.
